Step 1 – Obtaining Your Credit Report
Not all credit reports and scores are going to deliver all the information you need. When you obtain a free credit report, credit bureaus have longer to respond to your inquiries, so it is better to purchase your credit report and scores. Contact us at Smart Credit University before obtaining your credit report and we will coach you on where you can get your credit report and scores.
Step 2 – Identifying the Problems
The first step in improving your credit is identifying the areas of your credit report that are bringing your credit score down. There are five main areas that make up your credit score, and during this first stage of the process we will perform a thorough analysis of your credit score and report to determine what the problems are. Once we have performed the analysis of your credit report and score, we will put together a strategy to begin disputing the inaccurate information being reported to the credit bureaus.
Step 3 – Choosing Your Plan
Once you have obtained your credit report and scores, we can tailor fit a plan to fit your needs for credit repair. Plans start as low as $35.
Step 4 – Challenging the Creditors and Credit Bureaus
After determining the inaccurate or misleading information on your credit report, we begin the process of challenging the creditors and bureaus to verify the items. This process is performed by sending out certified letters to the creditors and bureaus asking for verification of the reported item(s). This process can take 30-45 days to receive responses and verification. During this process, you will receive access to our secure client portal to monitor the work that is being performed.
Step 5 – Reviewing the Updated Reports and Findings
Once we have received letters in return from the creditors and/or bureaus, we will go over them and the updated reports to verify inaccurate, unverified or updated information. If any of the inaccurate, unverified information is still on your credit report, we contact your creditors and the bureaus to have the information removed or to determine why the information was not removed.
